The Express Delivery & Logistics Association (XLA) has named Jim Conway, a 25 - year Washington government affairs veteran, as its Executive Director.
“Jim brings a wealth of Washington experience and is known and respected by legislative and regulatory decision-makers,” said John Costanzo XLA chairman and president of Purolator USA. “His appointment underscores our commitment to membership value through effective advocacy and representation before all the key government audiences that impact the global express transportation, logistics and mail industry”.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead the advocacy efforts of such a dynamic industry,” said Conway. “XLA members provide safe, expedited and effective customer services worldwide that are vital to our economic engine. We will share all of XLA’s contributions with Congress and the regulatory community and offer the Association as a resource during the policy process.”
Recently, Jim was vice president, government relations and later vice president and counsel, corporate responsibility for the Direct Marketing Association. In the latter position he was in charge of federal legal and regulatory affairs on behalf of DMA’s 3,400 members.
Conway began his career as a legislative assistant to former Senator Jacob Javits (R-NY). He then was a corporate labor relation’s attorney with Gulf oil Corporation in Houston, Texas. During this period, Jim also worked part time as a courier for Network Courier operating mainly out of Hobby Airport.
He then served as director of legislative affairs for the National Association of Manufacturers. Conway then joined Siemens Corporation where he served in a number of government affairs positions, including chief legislative counsel, over a 13-year tenure.
Jim holds a bachelor degree from St. John’s University, a JD from Pace University School of Law and an LL.M. in labor law from Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice before the bars of New York, the United States Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court. |
